Dear Soroptimists and visitors,

Our February Dinner Meeting is next Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at Delancey Street Restaurant
600 Embarcadero (at Brannan); Valet parking is $4 flat

We meet from 6:00 to 6:30 pm for socializing, cocktails and appetizers our Dinner and the Program starts at 6:30 p.m.


Dinner cost $35 at door ($30 if you pay in advance quarterly)
Wine- $7 per glass (limited wine list)


Our February 9th Program features attorneys Nancy Walter and Patricia Bovan of the Queen's Bench Bar Association (www.queensbench.org) , who will tell us about the JUVENILE HALL PROJECT.

The Queen's Bench Juvenile Hall Project volunteers at the San Francisco Juvenile Hall at 375 Woodside Avenue (off Portola) on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of every month, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in Unit #5. They provide companionship, enrichment activities and mentoring to pre-teen and teenage girls in lock up. These children have historically been subjected to violent victimization.

Soroptimist Int of San Francisco has partnered with Queen's Bench for the last two Decembers co-hosting a Holiday Party for the girls at Juvenile Hall, providing gifts, activities and pizza.

Dinner Choices:

1. Rotisseried Rosemary & Garlic Chicken served with grilled vegetables.


2. Pasta Primavera ( vegetarian: angel hair pasta in a light red sauce with fresh tomatos, garlic, basil and asparagus)

Dessert is chocolate mousse!

Poster Contest

Attention students in grades 9 through 12!

Enter the Shelter from the Storm :Domestic Violence Awareness/Stop Domestic Violence  Youth Art Poster Contest.

Contest  ended December 15, 2009. Winner to be announced January 18, 2010.

The June 2009  winning poster was displayed on Bus Shelters all over San Francisco in the month of November 2009.

2007's winner, above right, was on display for the 2nd year in a row during October 2009. The winning entry for 2008, right, was on display in bus shelters the month of November 2008.
