Dr. MARY WHEELER BARNARD AWARD

Dr. Mary Wheeler Barnard was a San Francisco Soroptimist since 1966Dr. Mary Wheeler Barnard. She was born in New Hampshire and moved to San Francisco while in her early 20’s where she practiced dentistry for 43 years. Dr. Barnard suffered from Progressive Supranuclear Palsy for several years until her death March 3, 2009. She always attended our monthly dinners and social events until her illness interfered. Upon her death Mary’s family suggested donations be made to Soroptimist International of San Francisco in lieu of flowers. The Club invested the donations and every year awards a grant to a  woman studying dentristry and who gives service to her community.
