Bay View Mission of Grace Cathedral

When The Rev. Nina Pickerrell moved into the house her grandparents had purchased in the 1950's, she began making big changes. She cleaned up the yard and replanted the vegetable garden to give the neighborhood children a safe place to play.Within a few years, The Rev. Pickerrell has transformed her family home into an outreach center in one of the most marginalized neighborhoods in San Francisco.

La Casa de las Madres

Established in 1966, La Casa de las Madres offers emergency residential shelter to battered women and their children while providing counseling, family-based services, and referrals. SISF helped furnish three rooms as part of La Casa de las Madres's Adopt-a-Room program.

        Safe House

One of only five programs of its type in the US, SafeHouse is a residency program that provides 24-hour staffing and comprehensive counseling, health, and educational programs for women wishing to escape prostitution. SISF funded the renovation of SafeHouse's Quiet Room, and in 2010 funded an internship for one of the residents.
