Soroptimist Celebrating Success Competition
Soroptimist International of San Francisco was awarded 1st Place in the Human Rights of Women and Girls category for the Soroptimist Celebrating Success 2008 competition for our "Shelter From the Storm" : Domestic Violence Awareness, Youth Art, and Bus Shelters" campaign, see information above.
A judging panel made up of directors from the Soroptimist International of the Americas Board chose our project out of four finalists.

Curry Senior Center
Established as North of Market Senior Services in 1972, Curry Senior Center provides support to low-income and frail elderly residents. SISF has provided financial and volunteer support for Curry since Curry's inception.

Established in 2006, La Casa de las Madres offers emergency residential shelter to battered women and their children while providing counseling, family-based services, and referrals. SISF helped furnish three rooms as part of La Casa de las Madres's Adopt-a-Room program. 
|
One of only five programs of its type in the US, SafeHouse is a residency program that provides 24-hour staffing and comprehensive counseling, health, and educational programs for women wishing to escape prostitution. SISF funded the renovation of SafeHouse's Quiet Room.

San Francisco Sea Scouts Base
A unit of the Boy Scouts of America, Sea Scouts teaches young men and women nautical and first aid skills and emphasizes community involvement and service. SISF sponsored the ship (unit), providing camp scholarships, assisting with maintenance expenses for the SSS Pegasus, and provides hands-on support for service projects and socials.
